I am a country girl at heart, loving everything rustic,
nostalgic and naturally dreamy. I spend my days playing hide and seek, (often with
camera in hand) in the hay fields with my two lovable little boys and my
evenings sitting under the stars with my hubby planning out our big dreams.
I am both shy and talkative. I will do almost anything to
make someone smile or laugh. I have a secret obsession with everything romantic
and inspired by nature. I will find any
excuse to put on my cowboy boots and blue jeans so I can hop in the truck and
take ride with my husband just to be closer to him.
I laugh easily, love deeply and cry constantly at the
movies. I believe in smiling at someone passing by in hopes of brightening
their day for just a moment. I have scriptures posted on my mirror to remind me
what’s important in life and why I’m here to focus on that. I love capturing
the special moments, celebrations and stages of life to enjoy again years down
the road. To me it’s all about that special look, smile or tear being caught
without anyone else even noticing.
I LOVE and RESPECT my Lord, my family and my friends above
all else and I believe you can never tell someone you love them too much. I
forgo handshakes for hugs, always! I love surprises and notes left for me in
the morning from my husband and I think my boys have the most adorable smiles
ever. I love to chat about photography, family, and life and love to visit with people about any of the above anytime through email or phone.
How I became a Photographer!
I can’t ever remember not seeing life as it would look
through a lens. I remember my parents buying a film SLR camera when I was about
8 and thinking it was about the coolest thing I had ever seen. Little did my
parents know that camera would become a part of me. Going on vacations I was
always the one packing around the camera bag no one else wanted and I was awed
that I was held that special responsibility. I never saw the camera bag size as an inconvenience rather a chance to capture even more of the world’s beauty.
Going through family pictures from when I was younger I am astonished at the rolls and rolls of film I have of pictures of the family dog, my mom’s garden flowers, tree bark and my siblings in awkward positions as I practiced and practiced. Thanks mom and dad for never complaining about the price of film developing! After years of entering my pictures in 4-H shows, I entered high school and the yearbook class. Boy was I in heaven! Not only did I get a free pass to go around and take pictures of friends, school events and classroom activities, I got to develop my own film in the dark room. I can’t even count the number of times I was late for 6th period not hearing
the bell as I sat on the floor of a dark room trying to navigate my way through a roll of film development, sorry Mr. C.
The years progressed and I still took photos but it wasn’t until I became a mom that my hobby became an obsession. Suddenly I had the most adorable subject ever to take pictures of and the thought going to a department store studio and paying $200 for ten prints of my son crying just didn’t sound appealing, so I studied and bought camera gear. After friends and family started asking me to take pictures of their kids, families, weddings, I decided maybe this was something to pursue, after all I had all this time on my hands with a baby right? Through the years I have found my passion for photographing weddings, couples, and stylized portraits of children, teens and seniors. AND…. I love my job! For the first time in my life I absolutely love everything about getting up and going to work. It’s WONDERFUL!
So who am I as a photographer? Well, to me photography is about evoking emotion and reliving the most wonderful moments of our lives. When at a wedding I shoot in what’s called a photojournalistic style, meaning I set-up and do posed shots, but I love capturing all the parts of your day, down to the tiniest details. I will watch with camera at ready to capture your mom as she silently wipes a tear from her eye when she first sees you. I think I like more than anything photographing the groom as he sneaks peeks across the crowded room at the bride who takes his breath away. I take time to photograph the details of your dress before it’s packed and sealed away, and all the
decorations you so carefully planned out. I know that your photographs are the one portion of your wedding you will still look at ten years down the road and I want every element to come back in full detail as you browse through your photo album to remember the joy and fun of the day you said “I Do”.
To me a great photograph allows you to become part of it. It brings you back to the moment and all the emotions of watching your little ones take their first steps or the feeling of when he first asked “Will you, please?” I look forward to helping capture all the special moments in your life and talking to you soon!
